Things are looking up

Or should I say Emma is looking up?  She can't stop thinking about Up.  She is constantly entralled with lights, ceiling fans and all things up.  She continues to sleep through the night allowing her parents to maintain some sanity.  And her schedule during the day is starting to get more consistent.  We are working to stay faithful to her times for napping and eating, and it has helped to make timing and schedules more predictable.

She had several "phone" conversations today which she thoroughly enjoys.  And this evening she was able to Skype with grandma, grandpa and auntie Marianne in Rhode Island.  The speakers for the computer are located in the closet, so she is having a little trouble wrapping her head around that (relocate speakers - project for T-day weekend).

No new video, but some recent pictures for you to see.  Wednesday she has her follow up visit with the pediatrician, so we should get some more info at that time.  For those of you checking, I expect that knowing how this week will go, we (I) will have some updates around the end of the week.

Hope everyone has a GREAT Thanksgiving.  We are very excited to finally have Emma joining us for the "holidays".  And what could be more appropriate than THANKSGIVING.

Working her "profile" shot in her cool new clothes ...

LOVES her Panda!

Yes the Panda is currently bigger than her - but she is working on it.

Playing with her stool, though not the way we intended.
She likes to turn things over and figure them out (at least that
is what I am going with).

This one's for you - things are looking up.

Sunday night dinner.  She is getting full efficient use
of her tooth (yes as in single - so far).

New pics and video!

A few pictures from over the weekend, and finally some new video!  Yay!  As you will see, Emma does like seeing herself on video.  Her deep belly laughs and occassional "snorts" can really cheer you up after a tough day ...  Not to mention the fact that she is finding her voice and experimenting with sounds - quite entertaining.

Emma at dinner Saturday night
We went out to an Italian restaurant on Friday night and Emma loved her pasta, the neighboring tables, and the music.  A group of elderly folks came up to us as they were leaving and nicely mentioned their "concern" as we walked in with a baby :).  Emma made friends with a couple of them, and a few tables commented on how cute and good she was - but we knew that already!  So on Saturday night we had to see if she really liked the Italian music (Eh Cumpari!)...  you decide ...

Emma "finding her voice" over dinner ...

Still plugging the "Graduates" - though not as good as her
beef stew for dinner.

Emma watching herself on the flip ...

Yes - this is Emma watching herself from Saturday night on the Flip.
She does like looking at herself.

Another week

Still trying to get on a regular posting schedule for those of you who keep checking.  Pam, Bill and Janis, and Kristen (Scotland) - this is for you :).  We had technical difficulties this week (replacing hard drive) which had the computer down for a few days.

All in all, Emma continues to do great.  She had her first doctors appointment yesterday (Wednesday) and didn't even flinch when they stuck the needle in her arm to draw blood.  Made it through 2-3 vials of blood before she realized she was "supposed to be crying".  She quickly recovered, had a nice lunch out, and then back to nap and regular schedule.

Have to keep this one short, but will post a few pictures from the new camera (thanks Lisa for the recommendation).

Looking good in black and white

She is learning to pose :)

Taking a break from opening all the wonderful gifts from
mom's friends in NYC.  And still loving the pink blanket.

Can't go anywhere without her Puffs.

"Cupcake?! So very excited.  Thanks Mrs. Forbes!"

Dad & Daughter days

So we survived!  The last three days have been pretty much Emma and Dad "figuring it out".  She continues to sleep through the night, eat well (and yes poop well as well).  My schedule?  As I figured it didn't work out so well.  She has a knack of letting us know that she is the one who is actually in charge, and will be dictating the schedule.  She continues to smile, giggle and have a fascination about everyone and everything around her.  And for about 5 minutes each day (timing randomly determined by her) she will let out some wails to let us know just how "interesting it can get" if we don't do as she says.  Just kidding, of course - she really has been a lot of fun and we had a great time.

I will put a couple of quick pics and try a video for now.  I'll post more over the next couple of days once things settle a little.  Sue is due back tonight so we have be prepared for her homecoming.   We weren't able to get Skype working on Sue's netbook, so we went with the low-tech method as you will see in the video.

Guess who dressed her in the "I love Dad" shirt?

"Dad stop with the pictures already!  I'm trying to play with Uncle Tony."

And so far when she wakes up she has been pretty happy as well.  Both in the morning and from her naps.
The next videos.

She LOVES this pink blanket.  I will be ordering a new camera tonight
since I missed a lot of good pics.  Time to step up to an SLR.

And in case you are wondering what our classy little girl learned while mom was out of town, the following video will help explain.  So very proud!

More over the weekend ...  Stay tuned ...
